Meet our Founder
Krystle Pickens is native Pacific Northwesterner turned Jersey Girl; an outdoor enthusiast; environmentalist; mom; spouse; advocate and interior designer. Krystle has studied interior design and environmental science, and is the founder of a sustainable design firm in Jersey City, NJ. She loves spending time in nature, whether it’s the beach or the woods; and she loves getting her kids outside and seeing their love of nature grow as well.
After years of preaching sustainability to anyone who would listen, she has learned how to create a balance between incorporating eco-friendly routines and not going overboard with these choices. In order to maintain a sustainable lifestyle, you also need to find ways to offer yourself grace in your day-to-day experiences, and find ways to shift or change your practices as your life evolves.
Krystle is very much a recovering type-A planner/perfectionist… and as many of us now know, that mentality in any area of life can lead to burnout and not being able to do any of the things.
With the chaos of having young children with their own developing needs, running a small business, and keeping house, Krystle has crashed and burned with the best of them; and when it comes to her sustainability goals, she has reached as many as she has dropped the ball on. The takeaway: This is totally normal and ok!
It is normal to need to take small, achievable steps; and it is normal to not be able to do-it-all, all the time. What Krystle wants to share from these lessons is that there are things you can do to make a difference everyday without making yourself (and those around you) crazy. You can find sustainable lifestyle solutions that are sustainable to maintain… and we can help!
